Due diligence, strategy and implementation

Establishment of manufacturing base for durable medical equipment

This private equity backed US-based manufacturer and distributor decided to implement a strategy to rapidly consolidate sources of supply for durable medical equipment in Asia. The existing supply chain could not support the rapid growth of demand and new product proliferation. The firm needed to find, qualify, and procure product from Asia and develop a platform to manage ongoing procurement and product development. Alaris led the efforts and:

  • Developed a list of target candidates and manufacturing locations

  • Detailed characteristics of the supply chain

  • Defined organizational structure deemed critical to the success of the strategy

  • Identified and pre-screened candidates based on required capabilities and cost factors

  • Generated short-list of pre-qualified candidates

  • Conducted negotiations with the top candidates

  • Incorporated China presence, finding, hiring and training initial personnel

  • Achieved 40-60% reduction in total landed cost

  • Implemented the export platform

  • Incorporated China organization that allowed for immediate production of goods

  • Acquired manufacturing company
